Before you leave
- Confirm identification, microchip and contact details are current.
- Check vaccinations, parasite prevention and destination requirements.
- Pack medication, water, food, waste bags and familiar comfort items.
- Introduce new carriers, harnesses or restraints gradually before travel day.
In the vehicle
Use travel equipment suited to your pet, vehicle and applicable road rules. Never attach a vehicle restraint to a collar. Maintain ventilation, schedule breaks and never leave a pet unattended in a parked vehicle.
Air travel
Airline and destination requirements change. Confirm carrier dimensions, documentation, breed restrictions, health requirements and check-in procedures directly with the airline and relevant authorities before booking.
Heat and hydration
Plan around weather conditions, provide frequent access to fresh water and watch for signs of distress. Hot surfaces, enclosed vehicles and strenuous activity can become dangerous quickly.
