Travel guide
Camping with pets
Camping offers wonderful shared experiences when the campsite, conditions and equipment suit your companion.
Choose a suitable site
Confirm pets are permitted and understand lead rules, wildlife risks, baiting programs, fire restrictions and access to water. Identify the nearest veterinary service before leaving reception.
Create a safe base
Provide shade, weather protection, clean water and a comfortable sleeping area. Keep food sealed and avoid leaving bowls or waste where they attract wildlife.
Visibility and control
Use identification and suitable leads or containment appropriate to the location. Reflective or illuminated accessories can improve visibility but do not replace supervision.
Leave no trace
Collect waste, protect waterways and prevent chasing or disturbance of wildlife and livestock. Respect other campers and local rules.
Check after exploring
Inspect paws, coat and skin for cuts, seeds, ticks and irritation. Follow veterinarian-recommended parasite prevention for the region.
